Starting something new

From Amy's
I picked this up at Amy's at my last visit.  I'm going to make it in to an ornament for my niece's graduation.  Hopefully it will look like the one below.

Beautiful Flower Technique

Beautiful
This effect was taught by Laura Taylor (http://needlepointwithlaurataylor.com) at my embellishment class.   So easy with so much result.  You come up with a silk ribbon.  Go down in an adjacent hole but don't pull tight.  Leave a loop of ribbon on top and stitch it down with the bead in the center.  Gorgeous.

Read All About It, Read All About It!

I am sorry it took me so long to post about my Laura Taylor class.   The class finished late on Monday and I had a triple Swan birthday party here today.  Lots to do!

Laura Taylor is a doll and I really enjoyed the class.  Here's my chief:

Overview

Robe
Laura introduced me to Bella Lusso merino wool.  So soft.  This is the knitting stitch changing colors as the paint changed.

Feathers
I was extremely perturbed by these feathers.  I love the technique.  I am using four strands of Threadworks overdyed floss.

Melissa Shirley's Halloween Basket with stitch guide by Laura Taylor

One thing of incredible note!  I got to meet Melissa Shirley!  She was absolutely charming.  That was a surprise and a real pleasure.

Will Tomorrow Never Come

Wiseman from Quail Run Native American Nativity
I am taking an embellishment class from Laura Taylor at The Needle Works tomorrow and Monday.  I have never met Laura but I have heard she is extremely talented and fun.  More postings tomorrow!

P.S.  This is the canvas I am taking.

More Progress on Ewe and Eye's Coming Home

Filled in the tent stitches
My camera on my IPhone doesn't capture the difference in texture and color between threads.  I promise it looks great.  I did run out of the Weeks Dye Works.  I hope I can find the same tones in another skein.

Back to Coming Home

Almost finished the grass on the right of the house

Bad lighting but good stitch detail of Victorian Step Variation
There was very little stitching here this weekend.  The unstitched spots here will be filled in with a tent stitch using two strands of Burmilana.

Oh my!

Could this be any more gorgeous?  One of the Swans stitched this bag and it just came back from the finishers.  She bought the canvas and threads in DC.  Incredible.

Ewe and Eye's Coming Home

I pulled out this old friend.  I'm stitching it using a guide by Amy Bunger.  I love it.

More Stuff From Memphis

During Eliz/Steph 3.0 last month we went sequin/doodad shopping.  We split some of the bags since neither one of us will ever need 500 of anything.  Or will we?  Here's what we got….

One bag of each of the above

One bag each of the holly leaves, spiders and kitty cat.  The top is a Xmas mix bag.

Frosty sequins and nice quality bells
You never know what you might need while creating.

A little progress

Basketweaving the white areas of the roof
Not too much stitching here.   White areas of the roof are done and the front door.
