There was no stitching last night

But there was lots of thinking about stitching.  I have been thinking about my friend, ES, and how we were working on this together.  I would really like to finish this!

Needlepoint Nation

Glinda's skirt is done
Needlepoint Nation descended on Austin last week and it was so fun.  I got to see old friends and make new ones.  Connie of Nashville fame helped me get the right thread to finish Glenda's skirt.  Thanks for the assist!  I hope that one day I will have the time to sit with everyone instead of dashing in and out.

Sleeve stitch
Carolyn Baird suggested the four way mosaic for the dress.  I decided to use the larger version for the skirt and the smaller version for the arms in order to differentiate between the two areas.  I think it worked.

I hope I get to spend more time with Glinda tomorrow.

Snowflake Pear from Kelly Clark

This is the last one from the series at The French Knot.  I just had to change the stitches.  I got started on the bottom and promptly ran out of thread.

Overview at bedtime on Thursday
I found Kreinik size 8 #5555 and started the top.  Added a few beads to see how they look.

Orange flower disaster???

Before we get to the orange flower issue, I tried out some stitches for the Emerald City.  Not sure about any of them.

I was stumped for a stitch for these flowers.  I want them to be cute but not take away anything from Glinda.

I sought the help of an expert.  If you do not have Amy's videos, you are missing out.  I stuck this one in the DVD player.

Byzantine stitch
One of her flower stitch suggestions was an irregular jacquard.  I thought that stitch was a little too long here but tried the Byzantine stitch.  I am still thinking about it.

More time with Glinda

Funky flower
I stitched the flower with layers of Flair for the yellow part.  I used stranded floss for the colonial knots that make up the center of the flower.
More leaves done
I am using stranded floss for the leaves and stems.  On to the orange flowers.

Glinda the Good Witch by Melissa Shirley

Stems and leaves
After all the Easter festivities were done I pulled out Glinda.  It was so good to stitch even if for a little while.

Nativity Stocking

I am suddenly in the mood to work on this stocking.  It's 8:15pm, the dishes from dinner are still out and I have company coming tomorrow.  Rats!  What's a stitcher to do?

While I was in Memphis someone called and ordered this after seeing it on my blog.   It's called The North Pole Village by Rebecca Wood.  Amy Bunger did the stitch guide many years ago.  You can see why someone would want it.  Amy's stitches and thread selections are wonderful.
