Where have I been and ....

what have I been doing?  I am still fooling around with Summer Homes on the Pond by Ewe and Eye.  I started the gold stitch on the right and decided it was too big for that hill.  I have not enjoyed the stitch in front of the house.  I don't like the blocky color changes and I am not smart enough for all  the counting.  Out it came.

I tried the gold hill stitch in reverse here.  It is a Nobuko variation from Ruth Schmuff's Volume 3 app that I have on my phone.

Not sure about this.

Will I ever be happy again??

Changing directions

I took the advice of my good friend, Miss Anne, and moved away from the grass.  Now I am trying out leaf stitches.

Green Green Grass

I am still messing around with the grass on Summer Homes on the Pond.  I am happy with the green hill in the upper left.  I think the size of the stitch suits the area.  Then I went on to the middle hill.

I had previously used this stitch on the green hill

In perspective
It didn't look right to me.  Below is another stitch from Ruth Schmuff's new book.

Maybe the problem is the color of the thread....

Summer Homes by the Pond from Ewe and Eye

I started the stitch on the middle hill.  It is a cool stitch from Ruth Schmuff's third stitch book.   I have it as an app on my phone.  I liked it, but thought it was too small to be in front of the stitch on the green hill.

Ruth stitch in the middle
Me being me, I tore it all out and started over.  I put the new stitch on the green hill and will put the original green hill stitch on the middle hill.   Make sense?

How it looks now

The Village Scene from Ewe and Eye

I finished the grass on the right side using three strands of overdyed cotton.

Giant Brick stitch
I started the other side after tearing out all that Burmilana.  I made a mistake as you can see below.

Skipped a stitch

And I had gotten this far
I stopped.  I had a bowl of ice cream.  I am now fortified and back to it.
