This a Rebecca Wood stocking that I purchased from The Needle Works here in Austin. I sent it to Amy's Golden Strand in Memphis, TN. Amy wrote a stitch guide for it and I attended Amy's Cooking Up a Canvas class in October of 2010. I am finishing it this week. Here are some of the little bits and bobs that needed finishing up.

This stocking is amazing! I know you will be thrilled to hang it this Christmas! All the little bits and bobs are so vintage Amy, I love it!
ReplyDeleteYour progress and stitches are amazing. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSteph,
ReplyDeleteIt must just feel so rewarding to know this is almost done. I have never done a stocking and this makes me want to do one. I have to get that pear banner finished so I can move on. It's beautiful, a piece that Meredith
will always cherrish.
Beautiful as always!
ReplyDeleteHi Steph,
ReplyDeleteAmazing stocking. Your stitching is perfect. Your daughter will cherish this always. Have one to for Jake but have to get through the house first.
Linda
Thank you all! I hope to finish it this evening unless tennis gets in the way, but this week for sure!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! How in the world do you manage to get so much done and do it avec perfection!
ReplyDeleteReally awesome!
ReplyDeleteHi Steph,
ReplyDeleteYour stocking is unbelievable! I would love to be able to sit and explore it--there are so many wonderful stitches and bits to look at. Certainly an heirloom! You are so talented!

You've become a stitching maven! Love the antlers, great progress!
ReplyDeleteOh I love it! Can I ask what fiber and stitch you used on the roofline? (the snow)
ReplyDeleteNancy P
Which roof? The two back houses were done in two layers of Flair. The front house is done in Alternating Curves with white Flair and Burmilana alternating with blues of the same fiber. Does that answer your question?
ReplyDeleteThank you! I thought it was Flair but not sure. (I meant the two back houses) It looks SO COOL! Well the whole stocking does actually. :)

You're an inspiration Steph! I've been working on a big stocking for my husband for (literally) most of our married life -- that's 26 years! When I started, the only thing I knew was tent stitch and wool. My, but the world has changed. Could you tell me how you created the "fur" on Santa's suit? Thanks for sharing your projects. They're all wonderful! Regards, RobinG in Indiana
ReplyDeleteOh, my! This stocking is full of wonder. I want to linger over each area. Have to see this in person!
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing, Steph, totally amazing.........Sarah
