Happy Halloween! Treats included!

This star was created by Cindy Howland for The Needle Works here in Austin, TX.  Colleen, the owner, has graciously agreed to let me publish it  here.  You can see it on Betsy Ross below the diagram.

Howland Star
This star can be adapted to fit any shape star.  Start at the lower left hand point of the star at 1and go to the point and sink at 2 and so on.  See below on the flag.  It makes great starfish, too.  Happy Halloween from The Needle Works!

Starting point on Monday night

Finished one sleeve

Started another

Bedtime on Monday
My constant companion.

Joanne's canvas
If you have any doubts at all about Betsy, this should erase them.  Joanne has stitched quite a bit more than I have and you can see the beautiful results.  Betsy Ross is from Melissa Shirley's Wild Women series.  The stitch guide is by Amy Bunger of Amy's Golden Strand in Memphis, TN.

  1. She is so sassy and you are on stitching fire! Vicariously enjoying your stitching progress because I haven't had time to pick up a needle for a few days. Very nice work!

  2. She is so fine! Judy has it right, you are on stitching fire! Sometimes we need a break from stitching the same old things. I am working on a little piece to get a break from my stocking. It has an eagle and two Stars! I am going to try the star stitch! So tickled with it! Thank you and thankThe Needle Works!

  3. You are so welcome. I hope you like the stitch. I will say that it is a thread eater. I am on my third card of Flair and may have to get a fourth. So worth it! I want to see pictures of your stocking.

  4. Thanks for posting the picture of my Besty, Stephanie. Seeing yours and Julie's has totally inspired mr and I've barely put her down since we came home. Since I sent this photo, her flag is almost done, and then I'm tackling her hair and her chest. Your needle is FLYING! Thanks for the star diagram!

    1. Fantastic! We can keep each other moving. I have worked on her every spare second. I will try to catch up with you this weekend. We have nothing scheduled which is a complete shock, so plenty of stitching time. Can't wait to see your progress.
