Village Scene by Ewe and Eye

A in a "Ye Olde Inn" script

In perspective

Stitching on the windows
Elaine got me in the mood to work on this.  It took me a while to sketch out the long skinny A to my satisfaction, but worth the effort.  Did the long stitches in an overdyed red.  I am now trying to work my way around the windows.

  1. It is justt so much fun to watch you stitch. Just beautiful.

You were right. The candy canes stitch up sooooo quickly.

    1. Thanks. Are you sleeping with your Fourth of July by your bedside. I would be!

  3. Looks great. Maybe you could trade your stitch guide (to Amy) for one of Amy's. You can see how much you have learned from her.

The only problem I see in stitching all of your stash before buying anything else is that you will have a huge framing/finishing bill. :)

  4. Steph, I noticed that you have several large canvas designs and I also have some larger designs. My problem is that when I get them mounted and start looking at them, they look so overwhelming! How do you get started and any secrets to keeping yourself going on them?

    1. I have to admit that I take the easy way out and buy a stitch guide for almost everything. That being said, I don't have a stitch guide for the Village Scene or Summer Homes by the Pond from Ewe and Eye. I am lucky in that our LNS has studio hours where you can go in and get help for $10. I also have my SWAN group to help with suggestions. I have learned that these big pieces need to be broken down in to one area at at time. For the Village Scene, I focused on the grass around the yellow house and after many stops and starts, I got it right.
Also, I am going to Amy's Golden Strand early in 2013 to one of her Rent Amy Days. You get her undivided attention to help work on problem areas of canvases. Anywhere I am held up, I know she will get me through it.

    2. Thanks for the information. I think that breaking it down into smaller areas might work for me. I sometimes buy a stitch guide but try to pick my own as that is part of the fun! I just bought a new Cooper Oaks today that is huge but I fell in love with it and it just seems to cry out for specialty stitches. Here is hoping I can do it justice! Maybe I should ask for a 'rent amy' day for Christmas!
