Village Scene from Ewe and Eye

I had tried so many stitches for the grass.  I was so happy to see that Giant Brick looked really good.  However, I did not like the thickness of the Burmilana.  I bought some new thread at The Needle Works and I may finally be happy.

It was a Ewe and Eye kind of weekend

The first one I pulled out is Coming Home.  I tried out the orange burmilana using two strands.  Might be a little thick.

Coming Home
I am still on Coming Home and I stitched the tree trunk and branches.  I am very happy with the result.

Next I pulled out the Village Scene also by Ewe and Eye.  The grass down front had been creating a dilemma for Marguerite and I who are stitching this together.  I tried the giant brick stitch.  I think I have the right stitch, but not the right thread.

Village Scene
Last I pulled my girl, Summer Homes on the Pond, which I meant to spend the whole weekend with.  Amy Bunger chose that gorgeous overdyed thread for me when I last went to Memphis.  I picked the stitch.  I hope I will have more to show tomorrow.

Friday night

I spent Friday afternoon and evening stitching the grass on Coming Home by Ewe and Eye.

First step with the strands of overdyed silk

Add tent stitch with two strands of wool
I don't llike the splotchy look of this overdyed silk.  Started cutting it out and then quit.  I pulled out this little one.

Blech.  Not a good stitchy night.  Better luck tomorrow.

More fun with Kelly and Amy

Nativity piece number nine is the donkey.  The canvases are by Kelly Clark and the stitch guides are by Amy Bunger.  The stitching will be by me some day.  Isn't he sweet?
