Overview |
I have resolved to finish all my Christmas stuff by June 1. To that end, I pulled this puppy out. I am so close. The main hang up has been the antlers. I didn't think slide bullion knots looked like antlers. This is Memory Yarn from DMC used to create these whimsical antlers. I am undecided.
First thing, I love your blog! It is one of the best and I love that you update daily with lots of photos and great info.
ReplyDeleteI like the memory fiber and the color is a great match. Did you try a whip stitch?
Forgot to ask......what did you use for the fur on the Santa suit?
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff Steph, love what you did with the memory thread
ReplyDeleteI love the curlique antlers. Every reindeer has something fun and elaborate and different. Please keep them.
ReplyDeleteI have loved watching you stitch this stocking and I think it is time to buy and stitch it. Beautiful job Stephanie!
ReplyDeleteHi Steph,
ReplyDeleteThe antlers are perfect. This stocking is just beautiful! Great job!

It would be an easy decision were it mine: keep the great Memory Thread antlers. I love the whimsy! It's a lovely stocking.
ReplyDeleteThe Memory Thread antlers are perfect. I love the way they curl. Hope you keep them!
ReplyDeleteMy friends always come through for me! Thanks, y'all. I am keeping the antlers. Two more to go plus some odds and ends. I would dearly love to finish this stocking this week!
ReplyDeleteKatie T-The thread for Santa's fur is Fuzzy Stuff by Rainbow Gallery. Color is FZ15. The stitch is random long and short. Basically filled it in until it looked full and fluffy. Thanks for nice words about the blog.
I am glad you are keeping the antlers, they are great! Good luck on the resolution. I have two stockings to stitch, one which I will start at Amy's in June. Woo Hoo!
ReplyDeleteWhich one are you doing at Amy's?
DeleteThis is absolutely wonderful! The antlers are perfect.....you will get it done for sure! Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous stocking! I've been following your blog since you began and you just keep amazing me with your beautiful stitching and all you get accomplished. Great inspiration.
ReplyDeleteHow do you do the antlers????? What is memory Thread?
ReplyDeleteJan-Memory Thread is from DMC. I think it is a tiny copper wire covered in cotton. You can twist it around into any shape you want and it will stay there. You couch it down where you want it. The only difficulty is plunging the ends through to anchor it. I use my trolley needle to punch a large hole and thread the memory thread in to that. Then you whip stitch it down on the back. Probably more than you wanted to know. This is my first time to use it and after playing with it for awhile, I began to really like it. I like the effect it creates. Give it a try!
DeleteThe stitch and fibers you've selected for you background snow are amazing! What's the name of the stitch?
ReplyDeleteAmy Bunger selected that stitch. It is called the diagonal wave and I did it using white DMC floss and Kreinik 032. Looks pretty good, doesn't it?
