How is this for skipping around projects? Got my beloved Thanksgiving House by Melissa Shirley with stitch guide by Amy Bunger. Got off on the wrong foot with the roof. Fortunately, we have a Facebook page for those of us doing this house. Amy is on board and set me straight. I am a messy stitcher, I know, but will look good when done.
Ah, the beginning of a new project! A fabulous time, full of excitement and possibilities! It doesn't look messy, you just don't have enough stitched to hide your anchor stitches yet. I am glad you didn't get too far before you got corrected. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Plan to stitch all day, but on what? Don't you like the feel of a new canvas?
DeleteHi Steph,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the picture - it will help when I start the shingles. I am now on step two for the dark green area.
Hope to get in some stitching time this afternoon. I unexpectedly have the day off. Have to Jake's cars to the needlepoint store to discuss my idea for custom frame and then a few errands.
Linda
Well, enjoy your day off. I can't wait to see the cars framed. I want to see some pics of your work on the green area. I am working on Helowise today.
DeleteOh, to stitch all day. Lucky you! Always fun to see what you are stitching on, Steph.

A girl deserves a day off every once in a while.
ReplyDeleteSteph, maybe it is b/c I can't see the pictures side-by-side, but I can't tell the difference in the two sides of your roof. You say one side is stitched correctly, and the other one is not. What's the difference? Thanks, Stitch on! Elaine
ReplyDeleteThe stitches should line up with the gold rectangle. If you look at the top picture, you will see that I stitched all around them. So make the small bargello stitches line up with the gold and the long stitch should be whatever necessary. The guide called for stitching the long stitch over 7 threads, but turns out my roof is painted differently. I need to stitch over 6 threads to make it even.
